SO HOW DO YOU PROVE THE RESURRECTION HAPPENED? part 2

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is of utmost importance!
The apostle Paul said, “and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.” 1 Corinthians 15:14-19

If the resurrection did not happen, the apostles were liars, our faith is futile, we are still lost in our sins, the dead in Christ have simply perished, and everyone who has ever hoped in Christ is to be pitied above all men.  The resurrection of Jesus is important indeed.  Because of this,  it has been met with vehement opposition through the years.  Many alternative theories have been put forth to explain away the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These theories, however, simply do not hold water.

The Resurrection the Focus of the Sermons Recorded in the Book of Acts

The certainty and glory of the Resurrection, and the hope provided by it, is the central focus of all the sermons recorded in the book of Acts.

1. Peter’s second sermon (delivered on the Temple Mount):
“Men of Israel… you put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead…” (Acts 3:12,15)

2. The Apostles’ initial preaching in Jerusalem:
“…the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed because they [the apostles] were teaching people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.” (Acts 4:1-2)

3. Peter before the Sanhedrin Council (the spiritual leaders of the Jews):
“Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead…” (Acts 4:10)  Read more…

The Life That Counts…the Life of a Disciple

How does a Christian live a life that counts?
How does a Christian live a life worthy of the name of Christ?

Far too many Christians are wasting their lives…living for themselves and not truly living for Christ.
While it is impossible for a true Christian to ever lose their salvation, it is entirely possible that a Christian can indeed waste his or her life. And sadly, this is all too commonplace here in America.

We are anemic! Christians in America are anemic. We care more about the economy, more about politics, more about “reality” Televison than we do about God and His Word! It has been rightly said that, “a fool is a man all of whose plans end in time.” Far too many Christians are building lives that will “end in time”. We need to invest in building eternal things. So, to avoid the tragedy of a wasted life, let us follow the counsel of the Lord in His Holy Bible. Let us consider what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 28:19-20, we find the portion of Scripture we refer to as the Great Commission. Notice what Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

He declares that we are to make DISCIPLES, not Christians. Disciples! Too many people are walking the aisles at churches in America and “asking Jesus into their heart”, only to leave the church service never to consider the Lord again…never to consider the call to discipleship that Jesus lays out in the Scriptures…Never to Count the Cost! Yet, as disciples,

We MUST COUNT THE COST OF BEING A DISCIPLE.
