In Christ…Before & After

BEFORE I WAS SAVED

For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. BUT when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  Titus 3:3-7

Matthew 7:13 – on the broad road

Ephesians 2:3 – I was a child of wrath

Romans 3:10, 3:23 – Not righteous, a sinner that falls short of God

Romans 6:23 – deserving of death

BUT NOW THAT I AM SAVED IN CHRIST I AM

 A NEW CREATION

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.                                                                                                                                                                            2 Corinthians 5:17

I am a SAINT

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours…  1 Cor. 1:2

I am part of God’s HOUSEHOLD, the CHURCH… Eph 2:19-22

I have been BLESSED by God, CHOSEN by God, PREDESTINED by God, ADOPTED by God, BESTOWED with GRACE by God… Ephesians 1:3-8

CLOSING THOUGHTS…

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.                                                                                                                                                  2 Corinthians 5:17

Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:25–27

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.   Colossians 3:1-3

Did the Resurrection Happen?

resurrection1The resurrection of Jesus Christ is of utmost importance!

The apostle Paul said, “and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.” 1 Corinthians 15:14-19

If the resurrection did not happen, the apostles were liars, our faith is futile, we are still lost in our sins, the dead in Christ have simply perished, and everyone who has ever hoped in Christ is to be pitied above all men.  The resurrection of Jesus is important indeed.  Because of this,  it has been met with vehement opposition through the years.  Many alternative theories have been put forth to explain away the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These theories, however, simply do not hold water.

Here are the most common alternate theories given by critics: Read more…

The Resurrection the Focus of the Sermons Recorded in the Book of Acts

The certainty and glory of the Resurrection, and the hope provided by it, is the central focus of all the sermons recorded in the book of Acts.

1. Peter’s second sermon (delivered on the Temple Mount):
“Men of Israel… you put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead…” (Acts 3:12,15)

2. The Apostles’ initial preaching in Jerusalem:
“…the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed because they [the apostles] were teaching people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.” (Acts 4:1-2)

3. Peter before the Sanhedrin Council (the spiritual leaders of the Jews):
“Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead…” (Acts 4:10)  Read more…

What Are The Odds?

Messianic Prophecy – What Are The Odds of Fulfillment Without God?
Messianic Prophecy is so powerful because of the statistical odds that one man would fulfill every single one of them. If we just analyze seven of the more specific prophecies in the Old Testament, that were later fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ, we are stunned by the statistical impossibility of such an historical reality. As an illustration, we have inserted some conservative “odds” alongside seven established prophecies.

Messianic Prophecy                                                                          Odds Without God

1. Jesus would be a descendant of David. 104 (1 in 10,000)
2. Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. 105 (1 in 100,000)
3. Jesus would be a miracle worker. 105 (1 in 100,000)
4. Jesus would present Himself as King riding on a donkey. 106 (1 in 1,000,000)
5. Jesus would be betrayed by a friend for 30 pieces of silver. 106 (1 in 1,000,000)
6. Jesus would be crucified. 106 (1 in 1,000,000)
7. Jesus would first present Himself as King 173,880 days from the decree of Artaxerxes to rebuild Jerusalem. 106 (1 in 1,000,000)
Total Probability (without God) 1038 (1 in a 100 billion, billion, billion, billion)
